Welcome to my site! It lists every song that has ever entered the official Top 100 Singles Chart in Australia since 1950. Over 82% of those songs have streaming audio which can be played as individual tracks or via one of the site's many jukeboxes/playlists. Being able to hear the songs can be helpful for people who don't always know the name of songs that they like or have heard. I created this site to help people reconnect with songs that they've liked from the past and to discover many more!

Hopefully these lists can help people increase their music collections now that many songs are easily downloadable from iTunes, Amazon, etc. All of the lists have accurate AMR/ARIA chart information. Also featured on the site are my personal top singles lists plus the top selling singles in Australia for each year and decade from 1950 onwards. There's also top singles of all time lists and plenty more!!

ARIA Top Singles of All Time

  1. Question, how can Something About The Way You Look Tonight rank at #53 and November Rain rank at #19 in the songs of all time on ARIA, when in the songs of the 1990s, Something About The Way You Look Tonight was ranked at #1 and November Rain was ranked at #12?

    1. Hi Jason, thanks for your question. Neither of the lists are official ARIA rankings, which would be based on sales. ARIA have never released, at least not publicly, a Top Singles of the 1990s list (mine was compiled by chri8topher, using estimated sales figures) or a Top Singles of All Time list (mine is based on ARIA Top 50 chart runs). Sales figures rarely match up with chart runs so that would explain the contradictions in rankings. :)

    2. The double A-side Something About The Way You Look Tonight/Candle In The Wind 97 is listed as number 1 for the decade as well as number 1 for 1997 as published by Wikipedia with its sources being ARIA and the OzNet Music chart

    3. I notice November Rain has moved to number 20, but Something About The Way You Look Tonight/Candle In The Wind 97 hasn't moved up - if fact its moved to 55. To me the minimum position it should be in Number 10 (ahead of all of the songs from the 1990).

      Commonsense should tell you that

    4. This list is based on chart runs whereas the other two are based on sales (estimated sales in the case of the decade list). Rankings can't really be compared between these two types of lists.

  2. To put it another way, a song at number 50 (1 point) for 1 week might sell more than a song at number 50 (2 points) for 2 weeks. The 2 week song will always be higher on this list on chart because it gets more points.

  3. Great site you have here. Really appreciate the effort you've made with this. I've been studying pop charts for 30 years myself. You mentioned the ARIA era beginning in mid 1988. I would say it began in late 1983 with the Countdown charts which stated they were "authorised and endorsed by the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA)". Regards, Ken.

    1. Hi Ken. The beginning of the ARIA era, in this case, is referring to when ARIA started compiling their own charts (late-June 1988). Before then, ARIA had been licensing the Kent Music Report/AMR charts, starting in mid-1983. :)
