Welcome to my site! It lists every song that has ever entered the official Top 100 Singles Chart in Australia since 1950. Over 82% of those songs have streaming audio which can be played as individual tracks or via one of the site's many jukeboxes/playlists. Being able to hear the songs can be helpful for people who don't always know the name of songs that they like or have heard. I created this site to help people reconnect with songs that they've liked from the past and to discover many more! |

Hey man, really good site; you've put a lot of work into it and there's a ton of info. Really enjoyed going through the listings and redicovering some old gems.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying this too, great site... although i can't quite fathom how one can rate Craig McLachlan's awful "Mona" 4 stars, while timeless tracks such as "Fool's Gold" by The Stone Roses and "Welcome to the Terrordome" by Public Enemy only get 2 stars! Then again, i should accept that anyone willing to devote time to this site can have different musical taste to mine!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work.
can you please add knockin boots by candyman on the next round

ReplyDeleteThanks for all the work you have put into this site- it's amazing. Hearing all these songs really underlies how little chart music Australian radio stations actually play. 1990 was the year I first started listening to music on the radio- I got my first boombox for my 4th birthday that year. 'Blue Sky Mine' is probably the first song I remember on the charts and radio. I also distinctly remember hearing 'U Can't Touch This' upon release and could never figure out why; turns out it only debuted in June 1990- as above- which was nearly six months after its release in the US. I was still listening to Patsy Biscoe in early 1990 ;).
ReplyDeleteJust finishing up listening to the whole list now and noticed the entry for Boxcar- Gas Stop. Did the song 'Insect' ever chart? I really like that song, even though it's a blatant rip off of New Order.
Thanks again for your work.
Hi dxnerd86. Older chart music often has to pass through the 'nostalgia filter' (google that one if you dare, as the top result comes from a highly addictive wiki, hehe) to be played on radio. That's why you often only hear the 'classics' played, whereas conversely, contemporary hit (Top 40) radio will play most of what's currently charting. So you can be sure that back in 1990, the CHR stations played a lot more of what charted in 1990 than what the 'oldies' stations play now. ;)
ReplyDeleteSadly, Insect never entered either the AMR or the ARIA Top 100 charts. I might be able to find out if it entered any of the state charts though!
